Perspective
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.
Hebrews 12:6-8
Do you notice that we all look at life differently? You know, our perspective on the events, people and places in our lives can be viewed differently depending on who we are and what we believe. For instance, the photo above could be viewed as a surfer who has arrived early in the morning only to find the surf not large enough. It could also be viewed as a young surfer who has just finished a long morning session and is now walking back to his car reflecting on his day. We could also discuss his mood or emotional state. However we look at it, we all have the option and opinion on what we see. How about your life? What is your perspective on the events and people in your life?
In the passage in Hebrews, the writer is challenging us to view life from a different perspective. He is asking us to look differently at the trials and struggles that life brings. The challenge for us is to avoid having the “victim” perspective about life. That is, one in which we perceive that everything is being done to us. We should instead look at those tough times as something God is doing for us. What? Yes, God disciplines and allows struggles to happen in our lives because He loves us. We discipline our children because we love them. God wants us to grow and growing requires discipline, change, and some levels of discomfort. We have the option to view these events and people in our lives with a positive outlook.
Back to the photo. Using this perspective what if this young surfer had arrived early to meet his friends who never showed and he is simply reflecting on the amazing morning he had to surf and connect with God? Just a perspective. How are you viewing the events, people, and places that are unfolding around you? In our church? What will your perspective be...”victim” or “I am loved...I will grow.”
May we become a church that embraces all that God allows in our lives as love from Him. May we all endure the hardships set before us so we may become all He has created us to be.

New Communication Center
This summer we’re going to create a communication hub in the west lobby of the church. Our goal is to complete it by Sunday, July 5. With that, we need to get our hands on some analog TVs. If you or anyone you know has replaced a TV during the analog/digital transition, or if you have an extra TV (that works) that you’d like to donate, please give us a call. We can use 17 to 28 more TVs - 19 inches diagonal or larger.

Group Life
One of the greatest longings of the human heart is to belong: to know others and be known by others; it's the way God intended us to live.
Group Life provides opportunities for
individuals to experience a sense of belonging, to grow together on our spiritual journeys, and to serve others.
While each type of group (Interest, Care, Discovery, Life, and Serving) provides a different opportunity to connect, all are designed around our vision of attracting people to Christ and building community.
No matter where you choose to plug in, there is a place for you in Group Life.
