Community
My wife recently had surgery. Needless to say, it has turned our world upside down a bit. With a four-month old baby at home, not having a fully functioning mother can be difficult.
But while it was difficult, it wasn't impossible because of the support we received. Our families made themselves available for babysitting. Friends brought meals. People prayed for us. I cannot say enough about the way the people around us rallied together to help with Ann, our daughter Kennedy, and this particular husband/new dad who may have freaked out had it not been for so many amazing people.
I am reminded that this is why community is such a vital part of Community Church. (Hmm...I wonder why they picked that name back in the day?) Jesus explains that we show love for him by loving those around us – by giving them food or clothing, or something as simple as a cup of cold water. But how do we know about a need, let alone meet it, if we are not in community with others?
Ann and I want to thank those who supported us in our time of need. We praise God for their prayers, their help, their patience, and their support. And we recognize that this is such a fantastic example of Christ living out His love through people who have been faithful in giving their lives to Him to do what He will.
We have been blessed by our community. Who is being blessed by community because you are connected to them?

Women’s Ministry
Director Announcement
It is with great excitement that I inform you that Deanna Redfearn will be taking on the role of Women’s Ministry Director. During these last eight years, Deanna served many roles in Women’s Ministry, including hospitality coordinator, small group leader, Special Events Coordinator and most recently, Bible Study Coordinator. God has been at work in Deanna’s life, and it is clear that He has been preparing her for this new role. I know it is her heart’s desire to reach women with the love of Christ. As a ministry we are seeking new ways to become more effective because women have tremendous influence in our culture. We want women to be empowered with the love and truth of Jesus Christ, to be set free to be all that God has created them to be.
It has been a privilege to serve the women of our church the last eight years in this role. It has been an adventure for me personally and as a ministry leader to be a part of God’s work. This summer it became clear that God was leading me to accept the role of Administrative Assistant at Providence Academy, and to leave my role as Women’s Ministry Director. I will continue to serve as a coach during this time of transition. I want to thank you, and my husband and children, for allowing me to serve you these last eight years. Please welcome Deanna and pray for her and Women’s Ministry as she steps into this new role.
In His Service,
Cheryl Ferraro

Women's Christmas Celebration
Tuesday, December 1, 2009
6:30pm
Gym
Join us for our annual Women's Christmas Celebration, "Prepare Ye The Way." Sign up begins on Sunday, November 8 and invitations will be in the brochure racks soon!!
What is the Women's Christmas Celebration? It is an evening where women of all ages come together and enjoy a potluck dinner, fabulous desserts, Christmas music, and a wonderful speaker who will help us prepare our hearts for what Christmas is all about! The GBCC gym will have many round tables all uniquely decorated by women who have volunteered to host a table.
If you are looking to get connected and involved...here are several ways:
1. We are looking for women to host a table that evening (this involves decorating a table for eight women).
- You can host a table and fill it with your friends, co-workers, neighbors, family etc....
OR
- You can host a table and leave it open for women who are coming and would love a place to sit.
2. We'll also have sign-ups for volunteers for that evening to greet, etc...
*Remember - you do not need to host a table to sign-up.
**Most importantly, remember to invite your neighbors, co-workers, friends, family....this is a wonderful way to reach other women, get connected, and prepare the way for Christmas!
If you have any questions, please contact either:
Carrie Birr, 822-2697 or Dawn VanSchyndel, 366-2314. |

Arts Team
Techies Needed!
GBCC Technical Arts Team is always looking for more people to serve. The GBCC Tech Team provides tech support for the weekend services, like audio, video, lighting etc, as well as support for ministry events church-wide. No experience required! If you are interested in serving on the GBCC Tech Team, please contact Danny Lueck, 593-3483.
Music Team
The Music Team leads worship at weekend services and special events. We are a ministry with the purpose of serving God and the community by using and sharing the musical gifts God has given us. We’re also a pretty close-knit small group of sorts. We spend time together practicing and working on music, but we also spend time building relationships with God and one another.
There are openings for all vocal ranges and any instruments. Soprano? Come out and sing. Guitar player? Come out and strum and/or wail. You play the washboard? Well, come out anyway, we may be able to find a spot for you.
The actual audition is a two-part process that involves playing or singing some music that you will receive ahead of time, and a brief interview to get to know you better.
For more information and to receive an audition form, please contact Jeff Whitney, 593-3472. |

Group Life
One of the greatest longings of the human heart is to belong: to know others and be known by others; it's the way God intended us to live.
Group Life provides opportunities for
individuals to experience a sense of belonging, to grow together on our spiritual journeys, and to serve others.
While each type of group (Interest, Care, Discovery, Life, and Serving) provides a different opportunity to connect, all are designed around our vision of attracting people to Christ and building community.
No matter where you choose to plug in, there is a place for you in Group Life.
